Happy birthday to me!! 2013

Ok my birthday was on the 16th but this post is about it really cause I did my nails to match an outfit I wore out for my birthday dinner (Mexican....yum! Hehe). I didn't take any pictures that night of me and or the outfit. Normally if I am copying an outfit or accessory I'd take pics of said outfit/accessory, but I don't know as I've gotten older (33...shudders) I'm not much into taking pictures of birthdays. My own anyways, other people's....no problem lol. Anyway here are my nails and I'll tell how I did this effect below.
By the way that's the longest my nails have ever been. I was going to try to keep them as long as I could this way but they kept breaking one by one so I have to start all over again which sucks but what can you do. By  the way that was rhetorical I know what to do I'm putting some clear polish on my nails to strengthen and make them grow long again before I do another post, shouldn't be long my nails tend to grow fast.
Now to how I did this. First I painted them white(which so happens be the color of the shirt) then I took a regular triangular make up sponge and paintedit the  two colors I wanted like this
And just sponged it onto my nail. If you see any white us because i thought the white was dry in some spots but it wasn't , but i think it made the effect even cooler. By some miracle I barely got any polish on my skin but if you do just take a Q-tip and dip it in acetone and clean it up like you normally would any polish getting on your skin. Then put in top coat and there you have it. If you all try this post your picture on here or my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/nailingitbymystie

See ya!

Shelly's Sassy Saturday nail art contest May 2013

My latest manicure was for a contest on Facebook. The owner of the page (Shelly's Sassy Nails) has a nail art contest at the beginning of the month with a different theme for each. This month's theme was : Fashion. It could have been anything from your favorite outfit you own,or an outfit you've seen somewhere else, or an accessory you have seen or own. Anything you can replicate the design of on your nails. Well I first picked a dress I had seen Nicole Ritchie wear somewhere. But before I could do that I was looking through early entries and saw some else had done something too similar and hers looked better than what I could have done so I wasn't about to embarrass myself that way so I searched for something else. Here is the original dress
Because you can use whatever you like to make the nail art I was going to use a stamper I have to make the flowers. I tried looking through my own things but didn't find anything that I wanted or possibly even could replicate so I looked online. There is this one designer I love her stuff(but soo can't afford lol) and it's Betsey Johnson and I found this purse of hers I loved so I did that. Didn't win ( did I mention that theme was MY idea lol ) but I'm proud of how it turned out. I think I'm finally learning how to do this right. Let me know what you think. Here is the original purse and my nail art
The gold was to represent the chain and I tried to do the leopard print to the best of my ability. Not bad for my first time lol. That print is one I have to keep practicing on for sure. That's all for now check back for more manicures(I'm getting in a mood to do more of these so watch out!! Lol) TTFN(ta ta for now) :-D

OPI liquid sand Mariah Carrey's Can't Let Go review

There will be no pictures of this cause I had this color put on my nails by a professional nail technician and this blog is supposed to be about my own nail art work not someone else's. but I just wanted to give a quick review of it anyway( I do plan on getting my own bottle of this later on). I was a little skeptical about these liquid sand colors, but I can honestly say that this latest trend in nail art is really something. May be even better than crackle/shatter. The finished product is a little scaly feeling but it's still cool. The look isn't that different then just another glitter nail except it may look scaly in certain angles. But overall I think it's worth it. Now if I can find it in my local Wal-mart. Wish me luck! If I get any I'll do another review with my own nails:-)

Influenster brand challenges

Just thought I'd do a couple if quick blogs here since I haven't in a while. For anyone who has Influenster boxes I just got a couple emails the other day telling me I won the Kiss Nail brand challenge and NYC makeup from the Holiday VoxBox. I didn't think I'd win cause so many must have entered so I was really surprised when I won not one but two!! I'll add pictures when I get my prizes. I really hope it's good. That's all for now bye!:-)

A dilemma

I've been thinking a lot lately about doing videos for my blog(polish hauls, tutorials, box openings-julep, birchbox etc). Here's the thing I have an account on YouTube already that I have used to "favorite" videos , should I put my videos on that potentially letting you see what I've favorited over the years(nothing bad/pornographic I just think it might be boring to some people), or should I create a brand new channel just for my blog? What do you guys think? Leave me a note here. Thanks!!

Mystery polish

I know I haven't been here in a while. No excuses and I hope no one has dropped me from their blog reading list. I don't know when but I will try and post more regular. If anyone knows me outside this blog it might help if you "remind me" I have a blog lol.
Any way I've gotten some polishes lately I'm dying to show you. But the purpose of this post is about another polish set. A few months back I got these mystery polishes by Julep. They sold them as a mystery set. What I thought they meant was I would know the names when I got em. Well I got em and no names were printed on them at all. It wouldn't bother me except that I document them by name on the app I showed ya'll a few months ago. Plus I put them away in alphabetical order. I'm tempted to just make up my own names and do it that way but I really want their proper names if any. Here is the picture of the polishes.

So what do you think? Please leave comments below.

NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine Review

This is what I got in my Influenster Holiday 2012 VoxBox.

I love how smoothly it went on. The shine you can see on my lips but the color is a little too light for my skin tone but I loved it so I bought a color more suited to my skin tone. The one I bought is called Fashion Ave Fuschia. The one pictured above is called Nude York City(how clever right? lol) When I bought it at Wal-mart it only cost me $2.00

Here is the products official site http://newyorkcolor.com/

Montagne Jeunesse Face Masques Review

I've tried these mask in the past and I LOVE them. I'm not sure I have a favorite because they are all so good.
The latest Influenster Holiday VoxBox included this if you met their demographic.

Any way I've been using these for years and I'm telling you they really do leave your skin silky smooth. The only complaint is pull your hair back as far as you can cause if this stuff gets in your hair it's kinda hard to get out.

You can get these packets anywhere, I get mine from Wal-mart for less than $5.00 which is really good considering some beauty products cost more. Here is what the packets look like
Also here is there official site(but be warned unless you want to pay to have it shipped from the UK don't buy from their official site unless you live there already:)) http://www.montagnejeunesse.com/

Hope you all enjoy:)

Goodys Quikstyle Review-Influenster

As with all my other reviews I am in no way getting paid to do this. Especially through box of products like Influenster. I'm just a satisfied reviewer.

Since I mentioned this was through Influenster I better link back to them right? LOL Here is the products influenster page http://www.influenster.com/review/goody-quikstyle-paddle-brush

Most paddle brushes I've never liked. My head is really sensitive so I try to stay away from paddle brushes in general. But this was completely different. I was seriously surprised on how soft it was and hardly tugged at my hair. Plus the sponges in the brush made it so much quicker to dry my hair. Before it took 5 to 10 minutes with this it now takes less than 5. Yeah I'm keeping this brush :-)

If you want one of your own you can get them at places like Wal-mart and Target for like $12.00 or so. I've actually seen it at Wal-mart with the other Goody products(while I was getting some Goody headbands actually-might as well plug Goody in general right?).

Here is Goody's official website if you'd like to see what else they have. But really please if you want a new brush that works get this one! http://www.goody.com/

Bye for now:)

Kiss Nail Dress Influenster Review

As most people who subscribe to Influenster know in the Holiday 2012 voxbox a box of Kiss Nail Dress in the color "BabyDoll" was in it.

I had seen these before and gotten something similar. I didn't have much sucess with the non Kiss one but this one worked better. It took me a couple of tries to get it right but I got it. Instead of fileing it down to remove the access sticker I just used a pair of scissors and it worked just as well and looked just as clean. They come in a variety of colors and you can mix and match to create thousands of different looks. Here is their official website if you'd like to look http://www.kissusa.com/

This is the review page on Influenster http://www.influenster.com/review/kiss-nail-dress

You can get this in any drugstore(Walgreens, CVS) or retail store(Kmart, Walmart Target) for 6.99 or lower I think this is an awesome alternative to painting your nails when you simply don't have time.

Let me know if any of ya'll try it out.

Product boxes I get and you can too:)

I know for someone who does a nail blog I do alot more than nail art on here huh? LOL I swear I'll get back to doing more nail art on here. But after I did my influenster review I though I'd let you in on what other ones I subscribe to. I hope I don't lose any followers:)

This one is one of my faves so far. I love how shipping is free if you decide to get the full sized product of any thing they send you. Plus the products they send are awesome!

Influenster.com  email me for invite

http://www.julep.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/78790/ Julep referral use this code 6066830 Earn points/jules for referals and purchases I LOVE THIS POLISH!! I need to review my latest box(I got two other boxes but I'm just going to review my latest haul since the others are kinda "old" by now) I will never quit getting this one.

So what do you think? If you already get any of these which ones? What are your thoughts on them? Do you know of a product review company or polish company like Julep that you think I'd like. Let me know in the comments below!

Influenster Holiday 2012 Vox Box Review

For those of you who don't know what Influenster is it's an online company that when you earn a certain amount of points(by product reviews, products questions) they send you what's called a VoxBox with products from either that catergory(pets, beauty, health/food, etc etc) or a holiday box with a mixed sampling of products. Well my first box is a Holiday 2012 box. I got this a day after Christmas but it's taken me a while to sample everything in the box. You'll see why in a second:)

First of all here is  the box with the card in front

On the back is a listing of what's in the box. First is this

It's a company called Sole Society they have a variety of shoes and jewlery you can buy, I went on their site and for me it's a bit pricey plus they didn't have my size(the size range is 5.5-11.5)But I do have an offer for my readers Go to http://www.SoleSociety.com and you get 25% your first pair of shoes if you enter Influenster25 at checkout. I hope one of my readers has better luck than I did. If so let me know what you bought and how you like it.

Now from here on out is what I've been able to use myself. So you'll get a first hand review from moi:-)

Goody Quickstyle paddle brush with sponges. This works alot better than I thought it would. The bristles didn't hurt going through my hair like paddle brushes usually do for me. Probably cause of the sponges. Plus it has holes on the side for when you use your hair dryer. Which I did and it made my hair dryer alot quicker than normal. I've definately found my new favorite brush:) Thanks influenster!!

Ok to be honest I wasn't thrilled when I saw this in my box. 2 reasons 1. I don't normally like oatmeal and 2. I was expecting something else I ended up not getting(which I'm still disappointed over but whatever).  I wasn't even going to try this myself and just give it to my mom who loves oatmeal. But I love cherries and pistaschios so I went ahead and tried it myself. I have to tell ya I was seriously surprised at how good it was. I even got some more at the store tonight, I might try it with Splenda to make it sweeter though. When I tried this I put in water like it said but with a little milk too. Also I've seen some people got other flavors like Apple+Walnut, Peaches +Almonds, and Summer Berries

EBOOST Pink Lemonade flavor. I'm not sure what other flavors they have but I hear this is really good. I have to admit I actually haven't tried this one yet but I definately will. I'm really into stuff like this like Airborne, EBOOST, EmergenC, anything to help keep me healthy and not get sick!

Kiss Nail Dress
Now these I've gotten before and they work rather well. I haven't perfected it yet but I'll show you my attempt in a later post. The one I got here is called BabyDoll. They look really cool. It comes with 3 sets of stickers for your fingernails and for pedicures as well and a nail file. Also it has a fold out that shows the different types they have. You can mix them all up to create different looks. One person I've heard of cut a heart out of one and put it in the middle of her nail for Valentine's Day. It's just a really neat product you can get them almost anywhere. I've seen them at the Dollar Store, Walmart, Ingels for like $1.00 to like $5.00 Very cheap but not cheap looking.

The last product I recieved is

<----excuse the nails I'm in between manis right now:) NYC Liquid Lipshine.
I am a bit of a lip gloss junkie(I have as many lip glosses as I do nail polishes LOL) and this one I have to say is one of the best if not the best one I've tried. The one I got is called NudeYork City but they have several shades. It goes on really smoothly and looks great. It's kind of a light brown with a little light shine to it. But once it's on you can't really notice any shimmer too much. Looks really nice.

Here is a recap of the websites for all the products(which I seriously recommend everything I tried except Sole Society but you might have better luck)

Goody's Paddle Brush

EBOOST

Quaker Real Medleys

Kiss Nail Dress

Sole Society

Oh and one more thing, The thing I didn't get in my box and it says on the back of the card that based on demographics I might get is this face mask from a company called Montagne Jeunesse. I have these mask and I LOVE using them. I recommend those as well:)

I hope you all try these. Let me know if you do, If I can figure out how people can post pictures here I'll put that on this post later so you can post pictures of your selves trying these products:)

100 Facts about Me......maybe ;-)

I saw this on YouTube by one of my favorite vloggers/bloggers Teresa and her YouTube channel is http://www.youtube.com/user/ChaChaCakes

So here is my attempt at what she did
Let's see how far I can go:-)

1. My name is Mystie
2. I'm from Georgia
3. But I now live in North Carolina
4. I spell my name different than most people named Misty.
5. The reason is there was this actress named Misty Rowe on tv who was a ditz(she makes/made Paris Hilton look like a Rhodes Scholar let's put it that way) around the time i was born(yeah figure it out lol) and mom didn't want anyone to think I was named after her so she changed the spelling.
6. I hate the spelling!! Lol
7. My favorite color is purple( if you can't tell already)
8. I have one dog who will come after you if you try to hurt me or my mother, but is normally a laid back go with the flow kind of dog lol.
9. I hated math in school.
10. I love computer games
11. Love The Sims 2 the sims 3 is too complicated for me right now
12. I've never been out of the country, but I've always wanted to go to Spain.
13. That's one of the reasons why I'm trying to learn Spanish just in case thanks to Rosetta Stone :-)
14. My favorite genres of music are country and pop. Although these days it's hard to tell the difference.
15. My favorite music artist of all time are Wynonna Judd, New Kids In The Block, George Strait, George Jones, Tiffany, Martina McBride and Backstreet Boys
15. Didn't go to my first concert til I was 14 years old
16. My favorite "can't miss a single episode" tv shows are Mike and Molly, 2 Broke Girls and Dancing with The Stars.
17. My favorite holiday is Christmas
18. My favorite nail polishes are Nicole by OPI, OPI, China Glaze, and Julep
19. I love Food Network
20. My favorite on Food Network is Paula Deen.
21. I've met her and her boys...yes her boys are even better lookin' in person LOL especially Bobby:-)
22. She was really nice too!;-)
23. I collect cookbooks but I'm not a good cook.....yet but I'm going to try.
24. I also collect thimbles.
25. I don't know how many cookbooks I have exactly but I do have at least 40 thimbles
26. I used to collect mini tea sets but I think that stopped when I moved up here.
27. The most unique tea set I have is a 1950's soda shop motif, the shop itself is the tea pot, the cups are sodas(I think) and the ketchup bottle is the creamer. It's really cute.
28. I also collect Beanie Babies although that has slowed since I moved cause I don't have much room here for it.
29. My first Beanie was Wise the Owl I got for my high school graduation from one of my aunts. -----I totally just gave away my age if anyone is a Beanie aficionado like myself.
30. The first one I bought was Princess the one named for Princess Diana. The proceeds going to Elton John's AIDS Foundation.
31. I have a probably unhealthy obsession with the Royal family. LOL
32. The only Royals I don't care for are Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall(the Rotweiller as Princess Diana called her LOL)
33. I can't wait for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's new baby next year! I just wish Diana was around to see it too:-(
34. I loved the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics. I have some of the songs downloaded on my IPhone.
35. My favorite was the Spice Girls performance.

I can't think of anymore. So I couldn't quiet get to 100 but you get what I'm about I think.

See ya in the New Year guys!! Thanks so much for reading and I hope I entertain you/ give you ideas in the new year!

SnowFlake Mani

I thought I'd do one more Christmas mani before the new year. I'll be doing a New Years mani later.

Here is the colors I used are Julep's Sharon and LA Color's White

I know you can't see that it's a snowflake but I tried lol I was a little heavy handed with the white. I need to get better with that. LOL Maybe I'll make that my New Years Resolution LOL:-D

Happy New Year!!

Lacquerhead Polish Review 1/Christmas nails

I thought with this Christmas nail art I'd kill two birds with one stone and do a review too!

The polish is from

The polish I'm reviewing today is called "Just be Claus" from the etsy shop owner's collection Christmas 2012 collection.

The owner's name is Alischia Taylor and here is the link to her shop. I have bought several of her polishes(and will review them all at a later time) Lacquerhead Polish shop on Etsy

I was having a Christmas party and was stuck on what nail art I wanted to do. I remembered I bought this polish a few weeks ago. So I tried it. To get a complete coverage I had to apply atleast 2 coats. It could serve as a cover over a solid color because of the glitters she has in it. But it is white based but I think any color can show through the white if you just put a thin coat of this on.

This really looks great on nails and I don't know how great this will look picture wise on my nails

I really think this looks better in person. The glitters really are cute.

When taking it off I've been advised to use the foil method(cotton ball soaked in remover and cover in foil and wait a few minutes and take it off and it should all come off).

I really hope you give her polishes a try and she is a really sweet lady to do business with.

I will be doing another Christmas nail art blog tomorrow. So see ya tomorrow!!

A Christmas break from the normal

I thought I,d take a little break and post something Christmasy but not nail art related.

I had a party today and I'd like to share a recipe or two with you. Don't worry I will get back to nail art(I even have a couple Christmas ones lined up already) within the next day or so.

Pretzel Rolo Bites

A bag of Rolos( either the regular ones or the minis work. Although personally I,d get the minis cause they don't have the wrappers on em and it's sync tedious work to get those wrappers off)

As many pretzels as there are Rolos the square kind.

Pecans ---same as pretzels

What you do is take a square pretzel and put a Rolo in top of each one. Once you get them all done put it in the oven @ 300 degrees for 3 minutes or until Rolos are slightly melted. Then take them out and put the pecans on top. Then you go it! I barely have any of these left so they might be a hit at your next gathering too!!

Garbage Bag Candy

I swear this is better than it sounds haha:-)

Ingredients

Chex cereal(doesn't matter what kind but I end up useing corn)

16 oz jar of peanuts

Box of raisins(not the pack of little one otherwise you'd be there all day getting enough to make a batch)

Milk chocolate chips

Powdered sugar

1/2 cup peanut butter

1 stick of butter

2 garbage bags( you do NOT want to use just one.....trust me)

* optional: pretzels, marshmallows personally I prefer marshmallows but you can put in really anything you think would be good with Chex, powdered sugar, chocolate, peanuts, and raisins.

You take the chocolate chips , butter and peanut butter and melt it over medium heat. After that's done you take the garbage bags one inside the other and pour in the cereal, raisins, peanuts and any optional ingredient. Then close and hold it with one hand and shake it with the other to get everything mixed together. Then pour the chocolate mixture. Then shake it til it's coated as much as possible. Then pour in atleast half a bag of powdered sugar, maybe more, maybe less. It's up to you. Once they are coated with that they are ready to eat or bag up to give as gifts. If you taste this you may end up making a second batch like I do. LOL, one for me and one for others.

I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do. If you have any questions comment below or hit me up on Facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/nailingitbymystie

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!!

Brunch nails

This past weekend I hosted a Pampered Chef party(if you don't know what that is I'll link it at the bottom of this post). Anyway it was a brunch and I had all these breakfast type foods fixed to eat. So I wanted to look a little "festive" so I thought what better way to look festive at a brunch was to paint my nails with different foods, breakfast foods to be specific LOL.

Now I almost didn't do this post cause I'm not thrilled with how they turned out, but like I said about this blog, none of these nail art post will be perfect yet so I would be going against the idea of this blog if I didn't post these pictures.

On my pinky is a cup of coffee(the white is steam) ring finger is eggs(the only one that came out "perfect"), middle finger is cereal(fruit loops to be specific lol) index finger pancakes(the yellow is a pat of butter LOL and I got a little heavy handed on the black to represent a stack of pancakes), thumb is toast(again the yellow is butter----a little too much butter although Paula Deen would approve :-D). I didn't exactly had the absolute right colors for the toast and pancakes(who would guess I didn't have the right brown as many polishes as I have! haha!!!!!) but I thought two shades of beige might cover it. Oh well I may redo this art again one day when I have the right browns and get better at nail art.

So feel free to tell me what you think. What browns would you suggest for all you nail polish addicts out there?

By the way look for my Halloween nail art soon. I just thought I'd catch up with these first. Hopefully my Halloween nails will be a little better than these:-D

Nail Polish Organizer

I've been dieing to share this with ya'll since I discovered it a while back.If you are like me you must have tons and tons of nail polish right?? Well if you are also like me you keep getting more right? Sometimes duplicates? Well If you have an IPhone you can solve your organizing problem with the Nail Polish Book.

Here is what it looks like
All you have to do is type in info about the polish, name, brand, shade, and collection name. Obviously you can take pictures of it as well.
Then say you are out somewhere getting more polish(what else would you be getting right?? lol) and you come across a polish you think you may have but you aren't sure all you have to do is a search and if it comes up then you have it. Also it helps if you don't want more of the same shade.

On Itunes it's free Here is the link to it https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nail-polish-book/id536885449?mt=8

I hope it's as useful to you as it has been for me.
